Another Amazing St. Patrick’s Day!

We want to think everyone who came out and made this year’s Saint Paddy’s Day shenanigans one for the books. In particular we want to thank Jason and the crew of Port City Music Hall for throwing one hell of a show, Enter the Haggis for gracing our city with their presence (and for putting on one hell of a show), and of course Brian Boru for being the place to be on everyone’s favorite holiday. We’ve got some fun stuff coming up, so please keep an eye on our Facebook as well as our site, and we’ll see you soon!

Other Celtic and Irish Punk Bands You Need To Know About

Saint Patrick’s Day is fast approaching and if your playlist is the same as last year’s then we’ve got some suggestions for you. There are some truly amazing bands in the Irish punk scene these days, some better-known than others but almost all worth your time. Over on our Pinterest page, we’re endeavoring to put together a list of Celtic / Irish punk, traditional, and just plain old good rock ‘n roll bands that you should be listening to all year but especially when closing in on the High Holy Holiday. Some you’ve definitely heard of, other maybe you haven’t, but they’re all worth your time. Check out the list, fill up your playlist, and don’t hesitate to let us know if there are any other Celtic punk bands we should add to the list, which you can check out here.

St. Paddy’s Day Shenanigans

It’s been many years, but this Saint Patrick’s Day we’re returning to the world-famous Brian Boru right here in sunny Portland, Maine, for an epic three-hour throwdown. Everyone knows that Boru is where it’s at on Paddy’s Day anyway, so we’re thrilled and honored to have been asked back. It’s going to be off the hook. Boru is usually standing room only on SPD to begin with, so be sure to get there early – we’re on from 1 to 4pm.

Later that night, for those brave souls still standing, we’re doing a proper club show at the newly-reopened Big Easy. Details on this one to follow – stay tuned!
